There’s a new burger in town… Fans of Shake Shack will be pleased to know that there’s a new addition to their menu, and it’s pretty good…
Shake Shack is an American chain that originated in New York, from humble beginnings as a hot dog street cart. And they’ve certainly come a long way – all the way here to Abu Dhabi no less!
Whilst they’ve been in the city a couple of years now since their branch at Dalma Mall opened, with other locations around the city following, we went along to the branch at the World Trade Centre Mall, and a rather nice looking branch it is indeed.
The seating area at the Shake Shack in WTCAD will take some beating I reckon, it’s just a really pleasant environment and has a great open and airy atmosphere about it.
I’m a bit of a fan of the humble cheeseburger. You just can’t go wrong with the simple things in life, right? 🙂 So the ShackMeister is essentially a cheese burger, quite like their much-loved ShackBurger, but with the addition of crispy, deep-fried onions on top instead of the lettuce and tomato. The onions are actually shallots to be precise, so it’s a tasty but dainty edition to the burger, not an overpowering onion sensation (and you can also add the lettuce and tomato if you like).
I have to say I was pretty impressed with it, and Mr. Arabian Notes monstered the cheesy fries so that speaks for itself. Baby Arabian Notes was underwhelmed mind you, and slept through the whole meal, but then he is only nine weeks old! 🙂
I’ve seen ‘Concretes’ on the menu before and never really understood what they were all about so it was about time we found out. It’s basically really thick frozen custard ice cream with different options for bits to be mixed in, and it’s all mixed together at high-speed, hence the hole in the middle. We went for the Shack Attack, and the Red Velvet. I’m a bit of a chocolate lover so if you are too your weapon of choice has to be the Shack Attack, it’s pretty much death by chocolate, with chocolate custard, fudge sauce, chocolate truffle cookie dough and fancy Valrhona chocolate pearls and sprinkles…! Yu-hum! I had a sneaky taste of the Red Velvet too – to be honest, I’ve never really understood the whole fascination with red velvet. I mean what is it?! But I was actually very pleasantly surprised. I really liked the vanilla flavour custard – creamy and rich, and the addition of the red velvet cake worked really well. In fact, next time I order a ‘Concrete’ at Shake Shack I would more than likely choose the Red Velvet over the Shack Attack, it was that good!
Shake Shack have branches in Abu Dhabi at Dalma Mall, World Trade Centre Mall, Yas Mall, Al Ain at Bawadi Mall and various locations in Dubai. Now go get your burger on! 🙂
