A little bit of extra crazy was in the air yesterday at Yas Island for the 42nd UAE National Day, as cars turned up in droves in the hopes of setting a new Guinness World Record for the largest parade of decorated cars in one location…

The atmosphere of the afternoon was filled with excitement and frivolity as the parade began – silly string and party foam was sprayed from the passing cars as party poppers and glitter bombs decorated the air. The onlooking crowd waved their UAE flags, sounded air horns and honked on their car horns as though their lives depended on it. It was all good fun and very entertaining. It always amazes me how many people go to the effort of decorating their cars for National Day and with the lure of a possible world record-breaking parade to show them off, this year was no exception! Sadly, the effort to break the record was not achieved with only 171 of the 250 car minimum needed passing the strict guidelines set by the Guinness World Record body.

You can see three of the decorated cars which have been selected for display at the Life and Style Show which takes place at ADNEC from the 5th to 7th December.
